Where can I see your lesson prices?  

You can see our current prices by clicking the 'book online' button and selecting the day & time you wish to book.  

 

Where do surf lessons and camps meet on Tybee Beach?  

All surf lessons and surf camps are run the North Beach Jetty area. It is about a 20-minute drive from downtown Savannah; however, during the summer months traffic begins to back up mid-morning so please take this into consideration. Take the TYBEE SHUTTLE for $10 each way, if you don't want to drive or pay to park! 

 

 

How do I schedule a surf lesson?

We teach lessons seven days a week and depending on instructor availability, we have five to ten time slots per day. You can book your lesson through the website. Click here if you're confused as to how to book online.

 

Where do I park for surf lessons? 

You can park in the North Beach Parking lot and pay for a ticket at one of the dispensers. 

 

What is the youngest child Tybee Surf Lessons teaches for surf lessons and camps?

We teach children in camps as young as six years old. With additional supervision and circumstances, we can teach younger ages in a private lesson. A lot depends on the child's swimming ability and level of comfort in the water. Feel free to email us to discuss in greater detail.

 

Are the waves good?                                  

The surf at Tybee Beach is perfect for beginners, and depending on your ability, experience & the current wave forecast, we can take you surfing in nearly all conditions. 

 

Do you teach surfing year-round? 

Yes, the water in Savannah is extremely warm for most of the year. Once it does start to cool down, we provide wetsuit options in the Fall and Spring but normally close for winter.

 

Do you rent surfboards?  

Due to our mobile operation, we are not currently setup to rent surfboards. For kids' sized rentals (5'-8') we recommend Hightide SurfShop and to rent kids & adult-sized surfboards (5'-10') and buy local custom-shaped surfboards, we recommend North Island Surf & Kayak. 

 

What if it's raining at the time of my surf lesson?

Surfing in the rain is fun! We run lessons rain or shine; however, if lightning storms are present, we will reschedule or cancel & refund your lesson. Learn more about our inclement weather policy here.   

 

*Tybee Surf Lessons reserves the right to reschedule/cancel any lesson, tour or camp due to dangerous surf, river or weather conditions.

 

 What is the surfing cancellation policy? 

You must cancel or reschedule your lesson at least 24 hours after you book it online. We charge 50% for cancellations at least 72 hours prior to lesson time. All lessons canceled within 72 hours of start time prior to the actual lesson or your card will be charged for the full lesson. We know that emergencies sometimes come up; we understand this, and will work with you to reschedule your lesson.       

 

What should I bring to my surf lesson?

Bring water to drink, sunscreen, a towel, and have proper beach attire on. 

 

What is provided at surf lessons?

We provide surfboards and instruction from one of our enthusiastic, expert, certified instructors. You may purchase a rash guard, trucker hat during booking checkout or pick up items after the lesson. Not sure what size rash guard to order then click this size chart here. 

 

What are the requirements to surf? 

There are no actual requirements to surf with us; however, we do ask that if you or your child has any physical disability or medical issue, you disclose that info to us so we can plan ahead. We are able to surf with all ages and abilities and we encourage everyone to get out of their comfort zone and embrace the unknown, but in some cases (children 5 and younger, poor swimmers, low functioning autism) private lessons are necessary to keep everyone safe and to have an enjoyable experience. 

 

My online booking won't process. What is wrong?

Please try to use Google Chrome to book your lesson. Our software works best with that browser. If you have an international phone number please be sure to accurately type the area code and number in. Please double check your info and answer all required fields before processing your booking.
